We use the IDEXX procyte as this is the external lab we use so our in house machines come for there. It's brilliant, get results within 2 minutes everything plotted on a graph and access to online stuff that plots all previous results against each other for each patient.

For anything else send away to your extrenal lab.

RE: In house Haematology

for me personally (and other people may have had a better experience) I wouldn't bother with a lasercyte - when it works its ok, but has too great a repertoire of error messages for my liking expensive bit of kit both in finances and patience - and I have used at least 4 different machines in different places -frustrating to put it bluntly. If you are looking for something basic and are able to confirm any suspect results yourself with a smear you could do a lot worse than a QBC - just dont believe everything it tells you esp re platelets and eosinophils. thats just my take on it.

RE: In house Haematology

simple thing is what external labs do you use?? as at my previous practice, we used idexx, so all of our in house labs were rented/bought,, therefore discounts on slides tests etc. also the service and upgrades were great.
