Hopefully your practice will be supportive, and I would suggest a 1-2 week period where you just 'shadow' the other nurses - during consults, for anaesthesia and surgery, etc. You can of course make yourself very useful in lots of ways, so it won't be like you're just 'seeing practice'! That way you will poick up on all current protocols, and also proabably jog the old brain cells!

Do they have a practice handbook? Or a folder of SOPs? That would be very useful to you too.

I'd also suggest doing a bit of CPD before you go back, or during your first few weeks - I always find CPD helps me to remember things I've learnt in the past, and also gives you a bit of direction for further reading/areas you need to brush up on.
