Does anyone have or know where to find a good guidance of average weights for common breeds of dogs and cats?

RE: Weight guidance

Thank you both for your suggests. I am at a fairly new job so will find out who our rep is and see if i can get my hands on the chart. And continue to use the BCS. A feeding chart would be great as well because thats where i am really struggling, when the ranges on the packets are sometimes so large! Thanks again!

RE: Weight guidance

Royal Canin do a good chart with breed ideal weights - shows an average for both male and female dogs.

They also do good Body Condition Score charts to double check those animals who don't fit the chart. We also managed to get a feeding chart from our rep e.g. a slice of ham for a cat = so many doughnuts for people! hope this helps!!

RE: Weight guidance

Hiya,

I have a nice Metabolic poster in the waiting room, though it only shows breeds prone to weight problems. Hopefully one of your food reps would have an up-to-date poster with average weights so it would be worth contacting them.

Personally, I've abandoned the breed averages for weight loss patients and instead measure each patient individually and use the Hill's healthy weight protocol.

Hope some of that is useful!
