There is a 2010 Lantra occupational standards. This can be downloaded to a desktop or other file for future use.

The NPL adheres less directly to the occupational standards than the old portfolio, however it is still a good resource to check the guidance notes on the NPL.

RE: Npl occupational standards

It may be worth you asking your college how they run your course.

At College of Animal Welfare we advise working through the NPL with the students scheme of work. This will also be reflected in the online work on the VLE. This is for the L3Dip. However not all colleges will work like this.

Of course if there are areas of the NPL you regularly do that are not yet covered at college you can elect to do these too. Common areas students do before they are covered at college are lab work and theatre work.

The VCA course runs slightly differently as if you are a mentor you will upload work on behalf of your student. For the L3Dip the student should be doing all VLE work, although they can ask for advice.

I hope that helps.
