Yes to keep practicing - over and over until you know the steps parrot fashion - and are able to perform each step correctly.

Currently revising for my second attempt in Feb, so not motivated though. I keep thinking it's only two more weeks of my life haha! In work some of the other nurses set up practical stations and treat it like a proper exam which is brilliant and I've been staying on at night doing them by myself too. Also rewriting the steps over and over seems to help me as well as wee revision cards. Good luck! We can do this xx

All CAW centres run the practical revision courses all,using experienced, knowledgable staff. Check www.caw.ac.uk for dates and locations

hey chick! Is the college still doing the practice days that Jackie runs? I know she is leaving but those were really useful especially as you have a mock exam too. Also get the dvds! If you are a visual learner like me you will find them really useful! Don't lose heart xxxxxx

Excellent Lydia. Pictures, or photos of successful tasks completed are a good way to learn.

What at does your clinical coach do?

i agree with the OP that revision courses are a great help - but I run them at CAW so I would think that!

Thank you! :) I have been writing key notes on the task sheets so hopefully I can remember it when I see the sheet, also I have made revision cards for the calculations and I did lots of practise at college going every week. I think I learn more visually though as it doesn't really make sense in my head by just reading the sheets so i've started to draw more - like for x ray positioning and I think it is helping.

Hi Lydia,, I was in the same position, although I failed my 3rd attempt an had to get special permission from RCVS to take again, I felt pretty down and ready too ice in, I even signed on at job centre as I was sure thats where i was heading, but had lots n lots n lots of practice and did as many practical revision days as I could find!! When I finally got the post on that fateful day it said PASS!! I didn't believe it,, I'm now the Head Nurse! So don't despair u can do it and u will pass!!! Lots of practices and GOOD LUCK XX

Hi Lydia,

its a a horrid situation to be in. What have been your exam prep for the previous 2 attempts? Perhaps we could give advice on what you are doing?

i advise my students to make flash cards for each task. Include on it key steps, any parts you trip up on or forget and a little plan to completing the task. Keeping it to about 5 -6 steps. This means you have something to think about in that minute to read the task - focussing on that rather than worrying.
