The blue hotel is cheap, it's a bit of a walk; there are other cheap and small places close, as long as you're not staying the big names. NiteNite is another one but incredibly small rooms.

All good tips (esp the comfy shoes) from Sal. I'd also say, pick a nice hotel that's as near to the venue as possible. There are some really crummy ones in Birmingham in not so nice areas. \

Don't miss out on the food that's provided as it helps with costs (you'll get tickets for this in your pack on arrival).

Mix in with people and hang out with the rowdiest crowd, they're usually off on a night out somewhere!

Do as many competitions as you can - you never know what you could win!

Beyond all of this - have FUN and be safe.

decide in advance which lectures are a priority and make a second choice in case they are already full. Make a list of the trade stands you definitely want to visit and go to them first and then anything else is a bonus. Wear comfortable footwear!
