I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is such a thing as large animal CPD or training for VN's. I know it is a long shot, but I really do love working on the large animal side. I do get to do some bits at work such as sheep

RE: Large Animal CPD /Training For Nurses

Hi Sananbaz,

Thank you, I will be sure to have a look! Sounds interesting, I'm sure there will be something on there of interest. And it doesn't sound to expensive! I am lucky that my practice pays for my CPD so hopefully if I'll find a few webinars on there that appeal or are of some help.

Thanks Again

If you google RVC CPD nurse, then go to recorded webinars, there are quite a lot of large animal webinars. They cost 30 pound for each subject and come with notes and cpd certificate.

Other small animal subjects are available too, for anyone else interested.

Not sure if they are pitched at the level you want or if the subjects are of interest, but probably worth a look?

Good luck x

RE: Large Animal CPD /Training For Nurses

Hi Elaine,

Thank you for your reply! Yes there was some talk a while back, I'm currently in my final year of my nursing training and I'm with CQ, they haven't as yet got that option. Hopefully in the near future they will; fingers crossed! I'm tryjng to encourage the LA vets in practice to do some sort of training for us nurses in relation to some of the drugs ect... So yes maybe the reps would be a good start! If I get anywhere I will be sure to let you know.

Many Thanks Again

Well first i must say im very envious of you for doing as much large animal work as you do.

This may not be very helpful to you but equine CPD is fairly easy to find. I am a clinical coach and have been involved with Central qualifications and at one point i was heavily discussed about having an add on the the nurse qualification for assisting with large animal nursing. It may be a starting point? also reps for large animal drugs may also be able to help you.

Good luck in your venture
