i wanted to raise an issue about a vet but because it is not annonymous it makes it impossible to make a complaint without risking your job.

Suggest if you're a member of BVNA to ask the legal helpline and take advice; or if not to speak to a separate and trusted VS colleague and take it from there. If you're having very serious concerns (which I guess you are as you've posted here) then approach the RCVS...

Sometimes the person concerned is having difficulties outside of work or is so isolated and feels they just have to struggle on/cannot possibly share what's going on (and thinks no one notices...) then a friendly approach/shoulder is all that is needed to start the healing process. Perhaps consider leaving information for them to contact someone in confidence? Or contacting the organisations yourself and explain what's going on and take advice from them what to do?
