breach date, it does not get to the exp date and just go. "No im a day or what over so i have disposed of the active ingrieedent".

however with referance to this, i would actually belive that there would not be any data for these excat products regards the effects of euthenasia due to oxidation of the product. as this impacts on animal welfare issuse on imposing unecessary suffering. especilly of a delayed result for the medictaion.

RE: query re broach dates

hi i have had this discussion before, i believe it turns on the be the efficacy of the product becoming less due to the fact of thr "air" within the bottle.
Interesting. I too was thinking 'bonkers' to have a sell by date for a euthanasia product - but that seems a plausible explanation.
would be interested to see some actual data on how oxidation effects this product in such a short time. At a previous practice going back quite a few years I have seen this stuff in the large animal kit hang around for 5-6 yrs plus and still be effective (and yes I know it shouldnt have been there but it was and it still worked!)

RE: query re broach dates

Although - many years ago when I worked in a lab we were written up by inspectors for out of date euthanal - my witty Study Director's comment was "it worked"!!!

RE: query re broach dates
hi i have had this discussion before, i believe it turns on the be the efficacy of the product becoming less due to the fact of thr "air" within the bottle.
We had this issue when inspected by the VMD, the inspector could see no logical reason for having a broach date on euthatal but it is still classed as medication and under the VMD regulations there has to be a broach and disposal date on all medications, its stupid .. i know but thats the way it is!
yes ours was as a result of VMD inspection too - looks like we will be moving to smaller bottles to stay within the 28 day broach rule which will increase the cost to us.

RE: query re broach dates

hi i have had this discussion before, i believe it turns on the be the efficacy of the product becoming less due to the fact of thr "air" within the bottle. This can possible be noted by how much of the solution is required to carry out the procedure when compairing to an animal of the same or less weight.

RE: query re broach dates

We had this issue when inspected by the VMD, the inspector could see no logical reason for having a broach date on euthatal but it is still classed as medication and under the VMD regulations there has to be a broach and disposal date on all medications, its stupid .. i know but thats the way it is!
