I was in this position once...... not for a SVN but a QVN job, I did not say anything at the 1st job interview, but when I went to the second one about a week later I told them that I had been interviewed for another position and was expecting to hear within a few days if I was succesful, I asked if they could let me know asap, as I would prefer to work for them, but did not want to turn down a perfectly good job incase I was unsuccesful at that one...... it worked they told me within 2 days that I had the job.... I then had to turn down the first one, who called that same day to offer me the position.

oh to be in the position of two interviews ...... and as for two job offers - that would be beyond belief.

I'd go for both as if they were the job of your dreams and try your hardest.
Then if the first job hasn't let you know by the second interview you don't need to say anything.
If the first job is offered to you (and I don't know of anyone who offers there and then, they usually have more to interview on the day or another day of interviewing, or even ask you back for a 2nd interview to look round again, meet other staff etc), then if you really love the place/people then accept, or otherwise say you have other interviews and will give them an answer on a specified date. They would want you to be 100% committed to them, so if you aren't then don't accept the first job you are offered. If you don't accept and the second one doesn't result in anything, you may be able to go back and ask ifthey haven't filled the place yet (if they really liked you and you were well above the next person they may wait or have not filled the place yet).

Having said all that, interviews for SVN are like gold dust - I've had 3 in three years, and just about to go for my fourth - but one of them I talked myself out of the job (ok so I don't know if they'd have offered it anyway), because the place/working practices just weren't for me (staff were lovely at the interview, and also those I met while looking round) and although it was the job of my dreams, I know I couldn't have been happy there - just my bad luck if it would have been offered and is the only SVN position I'd ever had got!!)

Personally I'd wait til you had the other interview, although SVN positions are rare, it doesn't mean you have to settle with the first option. However its probably unlikely that you would hear back straight away and they should be understanding if you couldn't start immediately.

Hmm it's a hard decision to make. I think if i were you and i were offered the first job i'd take it, being that training positions are like gold dust.

That's true, although they know I'm currently unemployed after moving from London.

Do you think I should just take first come first serve? It might take them over a week to decide anyway, by which I would have had my other interview. I don't want to chance making them wait and then not being successful with my second interview.

The first one is really close to me, which is a definate advantage.. and the second is about 40 mins away, but does farm and zoo animals... hmm... I shouldn't really be making any decisions as I have got neither yet lol!

I was just thinking, would they expect you to start straight away? Because generally most people will be going from another job so will have to work a notice period. Just a thought.
