It was brought into someones house by their male cat! undamaged.origin unknown .... but we are pretty sure it's premature as it is very slow developing... it's now nearly 5 wks old and has a significant squint! Anyway , at some point we are going to do a professional discussion on care of neonates to cover VetN 5.2.... don't know if this helps... our IV ok'd it.

Re: VetN 5.2

do you do puppy parties? you could do a quick talk at one of those about a chosen subject,

as mentioned earlier I covered mine with discharge of mum and pups after c section

if you had a pup/kitten in for 1st vacc the vet could then pass them on to you for advice about something like nutrition?

hope you find a way to cover it!!

Re: VetN 5.2

For care of young animals I got my student to talk to a new owner of a puppy. She included feeding, worming, vaccinations, socialisation, toilet training etc.

For care of neonates we didnt have any suitable cases come in so I made up a scenario of a client wishing to breed from their bitch. Got her to write up a report including advice on mating, pregnancy (feeding etc), whelping and care of the puppies.

Re: VetN 5.2

For neonates/reproduction, if you have a caesar at some point the student could discuss after care with the client as lots can be covered here. Likewise if you have a client whose animal is pregnant (i.e when seen during nurse clinics etc) this can be discussed here.

Young animals can be anything up to about 6 months really so you can use junior pet clinics or speaking to a client whose young animal has been neutered. The scope seems a little vague for this element but there are lots of ways of getting around it

Re: VetN 5.2

Hi, when i did my level 2 i classed an adolsecent check as care of young animals- so around 6 months of age. For reproduction of neonates i advised post a caeserian or maybe you could advise an owner when they are undecied whether to spay or breed from their bitch?

Hope this helps!?! ;-)
