I know the passport will include a microchip from that date onwards but I assume that it means only horse born after this date? Not horses who

Re: Equnie passport review

No worries, glad to help.

Re: Equnie passport review

[quote user="Jenny T"]

I know a bit as I've just done a piece on it for our newsletter.

From 1st July 2009 all foals born will need a microchip plus a passport. Microchips must be done by the end of the year of birth or within 6 months (whichever the longer).

Horses which already have a passport don't need to be microchipped.

Adult horses which don't have a passport already will need to have a microchip and passport done.

Wild horses will need to be microchipped only if treated by a vet.

Only a vet can insert the microchip.

Think I've got that right. Took a bit of researching. Tracer do some helpful leaflets on this.

Thanks hun - big help! I thought that may have been the case but even the horse owners I work with were unaware the change is being introduced! Tracer are sending me stuff out, just been wainting a while now!

Thanks again! You're a star!

Re: Equnie passport review

I know a bit as I've just done a piece on it for our newsletter.
