Hiya, It is great to see RVNs passionate on this area. As a bull breed owner its so awful on many levels.

Are you aware of the campaign The SaveABulls? It is a veterinary led campaign against breed specific legislation and seized dog welfare.

I am the founder of The SaveABulls and as part of our campaign and research we are involved with the League Against Cruel Sports and have advised them on their new report 'Bloodline'.

It would be great to have RVNs interested in this area on board. As the profession we have a loud voice and platform to do something about this. We have had lots published including the recent VN times, Politics first, our dogs etc.

We are on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.

Well I take your point, I guess I was looking from the dog fighting as a 'sport' and hadnt really considered the protection aspect if Im honest.

I saw part of the programme and my gut feeling was it was an advert for recruiting people to get in to this 'way of life' with dogs. These people do not appear to have a lot of thought for the dogs, its like they are inanimate objects.

And as for 'Psycho'- looking at that dog made me cry.

Shocking documentary. I am in the middle of writing something about dog fighting and kids training dogs to be aggressive for VN Times. If anyone would like to contribute a quote to the article I would appreciate it.

Just watched it on catchup and agree with leigh's post earlier. Yes, it was shocking to all of us "normal" people but to those who are of the mentality featured in the programme, it wasn't hard hitting enough and showed far too much info about just how easy it is to go out anf get yourself one.

I would love it if some sort of dog licence was brought into force. Yeah i hope not too many people got bad ideas from the prog on how to 'train' their dogs. Poor creatures

An interesting thought. It would be nice if they made it so that it were illegal to buy a dog unless the owner had proof of a liscence to breed dogs. It might help the problems but then it might lead to a whole new brand of cruelty with yet more puppy mills..

I gotta be honest - did anyone else think this programme advertised it to a new generation of status dog wanters? Like telling them slapping their dog gets it more aggressive?? Giving it a live rabbit to get a taste for blood? That it only takes 2 minutes to find pups for sale on the net and that if you bred your dog you could get £250+ for the pups??

Although I found the bits at the RSPCA showed the consiquences - I really think it highlighted points that stupid morons would pick up on and go - Oo, I'll try that with m dog!

Dog licences should be bought back, or at least licences for breeding - even if its only 1 litter, might even get this countries dog population under control and reduced the amount of abandoned pets.

These people should really not have dogs...

I am waiting for the legislation of law to actually catch on to the idea that it's not a specific breed of dog that's the problem, is the people who own it. Those breeds of dogs need responsible, experienced owners handling them. It's a pity theres no way to enforce a licensing scheme for breeds in need of experienced owners...

Thats why im watching taggert!After previous programmes on bbc - i got to upset and angry - im not in the right frame of mind to watch it!
