I have been asked by my practice to do a little presentation aimed at the reception team about various little bits, one of which includes tips on getting dogs onto the weigh scales particularly if they are unresponsive to treats or slightly

Re: Dogs and scales

We had our scales sunken into the ground which was pretty handy. You could just walk the dog on with not much fuss.

Re: Dogs and scales

pull the scales out away from the wall or out of a corner often helps - (but warning! also reveals any grot that might be hiding under the scales if people have been taking short cuts with the cleaning)

if you have a double plug near the scales use the other plug for a DAP difuser

weigh dog and owner together . weight of owner+dog - weight of owner = weight of dog (only if they are small enough to not break the scales)

take the rubber mat off and replace with a carpet square or towel for small dogs ( not sure what it is about rubber mats but so many dogs just dont like them!)

ask owner to weigh dog at home on bathroom scales so they can tell you the weight when they come in when booking the appointment if you already know that the dog really isnt going to play ball.
