Bullet point the key points you need to hit and then write each section making sure you hit the key points. You need to do an intro and a conclusion as well. The key to making it an essay rather than a story is to write what you did but analyse it. So say for example you syringe fed the rabbit to encourage it to eat using a 5ml syringe whilst it was on the prep table. You could comment you could of improved this by using a specially designed recovery food syringe wit a wider bore and fed it in a quieter place etc. Just analyse how you did things and break it down into sections so it's not so overwhelming. With regards to care plans you do need to discuss the different types. You should have one for each animal that runs alongside any hospital sheets. I have a care plan that I use with my students that I could send you if it would be any help, but I can't access it til Monday as it's on the comp at work. Good luck and don't panic, once you start ull soon get the hang of it x

Re: assignment level 3 medical nursing case studies help unit 305

Hi

Thanks for replying, they said we could use abscess, fiv.parvo etc. which really doesnt make sense with thw abscess. they need a care plan for each case which we do not use in practice so got to try make one up which I am not sure how to do lol. they want us to write about the different care models like roper orem and ability models. The problem i have is that all nurses where I work didnt have to do any of this as they qualified over 7 years ago so I am teaching them a few things at min. for myself I always struggle to get these assignments started. we had a work shop on the assignments few weeks ago but think it has confused more of us thena helped. they dont want us to write a story but include all veterinary terminology etc

I usually leave intro and conclusion until last.
I don't know if I would include an abscess for infectious. Do they not mean something that can spread to other animals like hemorrhagic gastro enteritis (diarrhoea and vomiting) so you can include barrier nursing.
When you mean evaluate nursing care plans do you mean as a whole or a care plan made to that patient?
I would start with the nursing care plans. I usually use the ability model- so for example malocclusion in a rabbit- the feeding activity, is it dependant on you to feed it just now because it's too painful to eat? So you need to syringe feed it, work out its daily requirements, weigh it daily to ensure it hasn't lost weight, administer pain meds and gastro protectant meds as per vet. Perhaps use a pain scale to ases level of analgesia needed. Evaluate- is your patient eating and maintaining weight- yes then your nursing is successful. No then you need to think about poss changing what you are syringing or placing a tube.
The clients role in this case. She needs to monitor the rabbit at home perhaps weigh it and measure the food it's eaten so it can come in for dental treatment asap.
