On the contrary, the new NPL is set up to have equine and mixed practice/large animal section. These areas are in the Day One Skills!

However it often comes down to student numbers to see who can run the courses. The equine course has run rarely due to this.

I agree it is an area where nurses could do alot of good field work. Does anyone have farm contacts to highlight this with?

It would be excellent to be able to do this in this country but sadly I really don't think the RCVS will allow us to take this on as they are so precious about what we can + cannot do. nowadays. Was so much better back in the days..........................sigh .

This is actually what I did my dissertation on - the role of the vn in mixed animal practice/large animal practice. I sent out questionnaires to practices across England for vns to complete. There isnt many vns that do partake in farm work but they do exist. :-)

Not really sure I can help with your question (although I do think if there are any 'vet tech' roles in the UK- head towards the SW or other farming hotspots!) but I would be really keen if you had a contact for the farm vet that you worked for as I am currently in NZ and that sounds all so exciting!
