My husband has a medical condition which means he has to be on immunosuppressants, so obviously gets ill more than the average employee. (About 1 day a month on average). He works very hard, and is an excellent RVN. But he has decided that he might

Re: Advice on Employing a nurse with a chronic illness.

You are not obliged to disclose disabilities/illnesses to potential employers - however if you are invited for an interview you're encouraged to discuss special needs/conditions which may necessitate your future employer to make amendments to the job description/employment contract to provide equal opportunities and meet your special requirements. However..

When my husband was job seeking with chronic depression (and receiving treatment), every single job application he filled in asked if he had ever been diagnosed with a mental illness, and he felt obliged to tick the "yes" box - and consequently is now self-employed and when he is off sick, we just have to accept the wage loss. Having said that I think it would be prudent and polite to tell them, although I not sure how would be best to do that.

The best ppl to ask would be the BVNA employment line, have a look on their website. Hope it goes well for him.
