I am currently trying to find a practice interested in taking me on as a trainee nurse, either paid or voluntary. I am in the South Yorkshire area but would be willing to relocate if affordable. I am also willing to work as a receptionist

Re: Student Veterinary Nursing Roles

just an idea but have you thought of offering to do a couple of hours voluntary on a Saturday morning? Saturday mornings are usually when practices are on limited staff and most grateful and may give you the best opportunity to show how willing you are, as I say just an idea but I have known it gain people a 'foot in the door'. At least this way you can earn during the week to support yourself and get some experience towards gaining a place in practice

Re: Student Veterinary Nursing Roles

Thank you for replying. I will keep contacting then, I think I have chosen the wrong time of year as most college courses have already started. I will look at the degree but not sure if I can afford it as I already have a degree which is not related to animals unfortunately :( thank you for your ideas!

Re: Student Veterinary Nursing Roles

Hi

I did some voluntary work at a vets and also at an animal sanctuary before applying for an svn position. I literally contacted all of the training practices in my area multiple times before I finally got a place but that was through college. Have you thought about doing it via the degree course as they find you the placement?

Good luck and do not give up!
