Can anyone suggest good posts that get good responses? Or themes to follow? I've been trying to find different animal 'national awareness' days/weeks but can't find much info on UK based things.

RE: Facebook

If you are posting about diseases in areas, please would you consider sharing our website/Facebook page (SAVSNET). SAVSNET is a joint partnership between BSAVA and University of Liverpool, and we collect data from veterinary practices who are signed up. On the realtime page, http://www.savsnet.co.uk/realtimedata/, there is interactive data available where you can look at disease incidence in different areas.

Cute pics, interesting cases, 'guess what this is', offers, give clients pets the chance to be your profile pic (very popular in our experience), we do a 'Pet of the Month' in practice, so this goes on too.

We get verbal Consent from our clients, but going to add a tick box onto the Consent form. Never had anyone say they don't want us to use their pets photos - they love it!

RE: Facebook

We used to pay someone to do our Facebook page but have stopped it as found clients prefer what we post directly. How do you go about using funny pictures from the internet without breaching copyright? The company that did it for us appeared just to include the web page they had taken it from. Is it ok to do this?

It has upped our likes quite a bit and had quite a bit of interest. I also share pictures of our patients (with owner permission) and good stories but tend to steer clear of memes and stuff as I don't feel they are relevant to our practice. I will share local stories though.

Re: Facebook

On your consent form include a tick box if they do not want social m edia

should aim for 2-3 posts per day.. 2 funnies and a story about the practice .. should be fun, upbeat and shareable .. nothing rude, nothing close to the line .. remember the public do not have the same sense of humour as we do!

Storiss about the practice should be .. here is " jo" holding the gorgeous " Fluffy" who has been poorly .. not too much detail .. plenty of cute factor.

keep away from gruesome pics, but pics of interesting non gruesome things like xrays of balls in stomachs etc are always good...

lastly chuck in a promotion - but only rarely.. people dont gto on facebook to be sold things.. but they do like feelgood stuff that will keep your practice at the forefront of their mind x .., hope that helps xxx

Re: Facebook

We have separate consent forms asking permission for photographs to be used for media and promotion purposes.
