Sorry, yes she works both earlies and lates, but will get annoyed if she has to work more lates, in general, than the others! Practice politics!!

Does the part timer have set working hours on those days? ie only 8am-4pm or can she also work a late?

Wow thankyou so much It would be better if the 'extra' nurse was on an early, as apposed to a late and the part timer works the same days each week due to childcare. I've not managed to have a good look as still at work. I'll pm you my email. Thank again

This is an example of a 3-week rolling rota, so after every 3 weeks you start with week 1 again
I've made it in an Excel file which is probably easier for you to see with colours as well which I can email to you if you want
And the names are made-up of course (A,B,C,D)

And does the part timer work specific hours every week or is she flexible?

Thanks both. I maybe should have mentioned the part timer works specifically Monday and Tuesday. I can't work out how to get it to work!?

ok this is my suggestion - ask your reception staff - they may have worked something out for themselves already and be able to save you doing it for them. Failing that yes I would roster the part timer first and work out a rolling roster for everybody else so they all get a fair share of lates and earlies( ie sharing out the Monday morning and the Friday night (which everybody hates) then run it past them and see if they are happy with it.

fill in the rota with the part-timer first and then fill in the left-over shifts with the others?
