The general idea of the book was to expain how drug companies and certain individuals manage to "fiddle" with medical studies, both animal and human, to

Re: Veterinary medicines and their various tests

When drugs are made by such huge companies, I suppose this will always happen but how can any vets make decisions on treatment without having accurate test details.

Has anyone else worked for the drug companies that can shed any light?

What's your take on this Arlo?

Re: Veterinary medicines and their various tests

Interesting that, but not suprising!

I once read a very good Michael Crichton book (State of Fear) about how companies doctor studies to give them the results they want. It was more to do with environmental studies, checking the green house effect and all that. Apparently all the research done on environmental impact are funded by huge corporations, and as they provide the money they choose what the result of the study should be. It made me wonder about all the propoganda we hear about the environment, and whether we should actually be that worried!

Let's face it, we only know what they want us to know anyway.

Re: Veterinary medicines and their various tests

"Bad Science" by Ben Goldacre( columnist for the Guardian)

He also runs courses for trainee doctors to give them insight into how to REALLY look into studies!!!

Apparently it is almost impossible to find "negative " studies into medication, especially if the results do not show that the drug is amazing!

Re: Veterinary medicines and their various tests

I know a little bit about it from when I was repping. Having worked for more than one nutrition company, I do know that they (or "we" as it was back then!) conveninetly foreget to tell you the bits that don't help to sell a product and I also know that one compnay "trained" us in how unethical some of the other company's feeding trials were in order to further our cause. Don't know much about the drug side though. What were you reading?

Re: Veterinary medicines and their various tests

Oh and sorry this post is a bit long!!
