To be honest it could have come from anywhere do rcvs sell on our details?
If you have filled in any form with email and job then unless you have ticked the box do not give my details out... even if you have often companies ignore this the details are sold on. Not counting the major hack jobs at companies where whole databases are stolen we only get told a fraction of them as they know they will get into data protection trouble.

I got the same as you..strange thing is i'm from Ireland!

The agencies i'm with is Gardner Llewelyn and Recruit 4 vets but I like you would like to know where they got my email!!

Yep, has happened to me - an agent I dealt with at Rig Vets emailed me from a company I'd never heard of regarding locum jobs - he blatantly took his contacts list with him. I was pretty annoyed about it, but stupidly didn't say anything, just completely ignored the emails.

Hello- I thought I would pass on some recruitment information for you on the subject from someone who works in the industry. If you are being contacted by a new agency that you haven't registered with it is usually because a recruitment consultant has left a company and basically stolen the information from the company they were originally working through. Recruitment databases are 100% confidential as they contain individuals private information such as address, telephone numbers etc... There are a number of new agencies of late where this is the likely story judging by your comments.

This confidential information should never leave the agency database. It sounds like someone has either obtained a candidate database without permission from someone working in an agency that is passing the information over, or a recruitment consultant has left and set up on their own using their old agencies details illegally.

In this instance the chances are that if there is another veterinary recruitment agency in or near Leeds that is where the information has come from. Either way I wouldn't use them!

I also had one of the emails from Salsa / Lucy, and deleted it. The only one of your agencies I have worked through is Rig..... would be interested to know how they are passing around info as well :(

ok - so the people who have had emails have you all done some locum work or registered with any locum agencies? willing to share the ones I have ever registered with and if anybody wants to share theirs (privately if you want to) will see if we cant find the common denominator.

mine are Rig, Owen Tate Ellis, Carlton, Recruit4vets and possibly Shona Hostler - the only other veterinary organisation or company that has that particular email address would be the RCVS when I filled in my annual renewal last year

it may just be somebody just setting up their own locum agency - and there wouldnt be anything untoward in that. I have emailed back asking where they have got my details from but so far no reply

If you google the telephone number it comes up as a Wine shop, amongst others in Leeds. Their web link off the email is password locked also. However they are on Twitter

This sounds like a potential breach of the Data Protection Act, I would difinitely follow this up.

thanks for that as far as I am aware I have never signed anything that gives anybody from any recruitment agency the permission to pass on my details to anybody else other than a employer looking for a locum. I am going to follow this up I think as I have been stung before when I have gone to do a locum.

Arranged a rate and shifts with a practice and then practice contacts the agency to tell them position has been filled.

Agency casually asks who is doing the locum and next thing I know agency is in contact with me to say as I am registered with them I will be working through them and they will be taking their cut. Although I had registered with the agency some time before I had never done any work for them and they had never found me any work. I had found the job through another nurse because the agencies hadn't found them cover.(at a far better rate than the agency were offering by nearly £5ph)

Very wary now

I have had a few recruitment agencies contact me by telephone and email recently, ones that I did not register interest with. I also recognised some of the names from previous emails from other companies, so I am to assume that this does happen quite regularly.

I hope they dont - because that would mean my contact details are being passed around - and that I would seriously not be happy about

I also had "the email" from them. I can only assume that the person doing the emailing has left a different recruitment agency and is now working for/set up this one.

I had a similar email from someone who used to work at Rig Vets and now works elsewhere - it appears that they take their list of contacts with them.
