I contacted Terumo about this and they told me they have discontinued the Neolus needles and the alternative is the Agani ones

the neolus needles are back in stock with vet direct and have been for few weeks now :)

Hi Emma, we are using DVH 01823 451154, they have all the sizes in BD except for hte 23g 5/8 which he has a reasonble supply of the terumo neolus at the moment

I give my cat a sub cut drip for CKD each morning and thought that either her skin was becoming tough (!) or I was being incompetent. I then realised that I was using Terumo Agani needles instead of the previous Terumo Neolus. I have been able to obtain some Neolus needles from Vet Direct (0800 068 3300) - they were in a "first come first served" sale at the beginning of December so I don't know if they have any left.

What a juicy thread!! i too have hd problems witnthe agani needle, my supplier has said that terumo may or may not be bringing the neoulus back into play which would be fantastic, however i wouldn't be paying £6 a box as i would be getting them from The vet store who supplies my needles at £2 a box at the moment and we can get the 23 x 5/8 needle no problem.

Yes new Terumo are terrible! We have moved over to millpledge, although their not as good as the old Terumo they do the job ok and certainly better then the new Terumo's....

Not sure if anyone else heard the news but apparently Terumo Neolus needles have been re-instated - we got a flyer from vet-direct about it - and they are cheaper!

Funnily enough I was quizzing ims too!

Terumo will only hold the advantage coming back at a high cost till something else comes along, Fingers crossed its soon!

That would be great - £6 a box is only slightly more than the others and worth it if it only takes one needle and one stab!

I was speaking to the IMS reps at BVNA Congress and asked them what is going in with these needles. we used to love the Neolus and the new ones just dong cut the mustard I feel. They have had a butt load of complaints from VN's re these new needles and Termo insist the new ones are better,

Reason I digress is there is a change thay are going to start manufacturing the old needles again but they will be a higher cost!! but we may be getting them back. I was advised could be as much as £6 a box :O

Just thought I would share !

We have has the same problem in our practice. Some of the vets have complained about the quality. Haven't tried the krusse ones yet, dreading to try them now :(

we use DVH 01823 451154, IF you speak to Duncan he will help you as much as possible - her certainly has a good supply og the BD microlance needles

I've been trying to order Terumo needles 23g x 5/8" for over a month now but Safavet and Henry Schein have both been out of stock - could there have been a manufacturing problem..? Caved and orders 1" because was having trouble sourcing a decent and affordable brand after trying a few which were rubbish (I too am never ordering an un-named supplier's own brand again).

Hi Stu - what supplier do you get your BD microlance from? I can only seem to see a couple of weird sizes from any of the suppliers we use.

Yes we've had the same problem and have now moved over to BD microlance which at the moment are as good as the Terumo neolus. The only problem is BD for some reason don't make 23g 5/8" (every other size except) so am looking for another brand for this size.

Good question ^^^^ It's really starting to pee me off now, today I couldn't push into the skin with a new needle.

The question is, has anyone found a brand of equal or superior quality. I'm sick of injecting and blood sampling patients with these sub par needles, i'm close to using a biro because their bound to be better!!

I thought it was my imagination! We too have used these for many years and found them to be very good but I have noticed a problem with these, more so when trying to blood sample cats, feels like you are trying to pierce shoe leather! Will be going to say to my boss about what I have read here. Also, we had been using the same iv catheters from nvs for years, anicath winged ones and last year noticed a huge difference in the quality, they just wouldn't advance. We now get them from jak and found them to be much better.
