I used to use questionnaires for my weight clinics and I didn't get a good response. I got the impression it was too much effort to fill it out

Re: geriatric/mobility clinics

http://avmajournals.avma.org/doi/pdf/10.2460/javma.236.8.846

Tell your boss that by not taking full advantage of his veterinary nurses he's missing out on $91,311 of gross revenue per veterinary surgeon. :)

Extrapolating that information further, at current spot prices that means veterinary nurses are worth 4.5 lbs of gold annually. In a given 25 year career we could therefore argue that a veterinary nurse is literally worth their weight in gold.

Kind regards,

We would send out a letter and questionnaire to owners inviting them to a free consult to include full examination with a VN plus blood pressure and urine dipstick and SG check.

They had to fill out the questionnaire before hand so that they identified any areas of concern. That way we found that they were already thinkign about things rather than us just pushing things on them.

From doing these 1 in every 3 consults led to further treatment in the form of blood tests, dentals, diagnosis of hyperthyroidism/renal disease and lots of supplements such as for joints or senility.

well worth it!!

Re: geriatric/mobility clinics

Forgot to add they do generate income as the sort of owners who bother to show an interest are those keen to act on recommendations. We have done bloods , picked up blood pressure and kidney cats but by far the most is joint supplements. Just beware that people dont book in for them as a cheap consult when something wrong. Ours are aimed at picking up problems they were unaware of!!

Re: geriatric/mobility clinics

We do senior clinics. Uptake not great but think we just need to publicise more but so busy at the moment will save it for when quieter. They have initial aapt with nurse - we go through detailed questionnaire with them to detect any subtle changes or health concerns and also a mobility questionnaire. We then do urinalysis, full vet check, bp for cats and iop for dogs. They then get disch apot with vet or nurse for recommendations. We charge £20 for it.

we are also scoring our longterm creaky patients with the mobility questionnaire. They fill it in pre treatment then do a new one after meds or when in for med checks to assess whether meds working or not working as well. Lot more reliable than just asking if they seem better!!

Re: geriatric/mobility clinics

Hi Angela,
