Incredible detail but feel that a lot of it is more suited to vets than VNs in regards to the DX and TX and conditions. I was just wondering if anyone out

Re: C&G certificate in vet nursing exotics

Jo,

I was the opposite... I wanted to study more!!! (As an old colleague said... "You never stop" and this is very true of me!)

Only problem was I found few courses to go onto afterwards which wasn't just going over what we did in this course.

I then moved onto looking at exotic animal behaviour!

Re: C&G certificate in vet nursing exotics

Hi!

I also passed the course! :) It was a lot easier than I had made out and stressed myself into!!

I did have an issue with London traffic though and the fact that my SatNav as it took me to a primary school not the RVC which put my stress levels at a very high level!

I found that if I learnt the conditions so I had an understanding of what happened and what they were and the causes, the diagnostics and treatment were more common sense as it was multiple choice. I remember sitting the exam and most of them I also found that too.

I stressed more about the practical side of it but this, again, it felt more like common sense at the time of sitting them. I just tried to think about what I would do in practice in this situation.

I moved practice throughout my training from a small first opinion practice to a referal and first opinion practice which specialises in exotics and found the second practice much more beneficial for the practical side of things. I would recommend going into a referral or exotic specialist practice for some experience of best practice as a lot of first opinion practices, in my opinion, have not got the "best" set up for the exotic animals and maybe don't always have "best practice". As I am a visual learner, this really benefitted me.

Good luck!

Re: C&G certificate in vet nursing exotics

Yup I passed :) .. you'll be alright .. keep on keeping on x

Re: C&G certificate in vet nursing exotics

Couldn't find anything terribly recent or relevant to course content but thanks for the heads up Selena....although I'm not the best at navigation so may be looking in the wrong places?!
Its fun, the content is very much aimed more at vets I think .. but I did find it very useful :)

The exam wasn't the best to be honest, particularly the practical parts, but I believe things have improved considerably since I did it a few years back x
