Update - I had hoped the new website would be going live a month or two ago - and it has taken rather longer than expected.

BUT, I'm promised it'll be ready next Thursday. Fingers crossed.

I need to check. I think the danger is that if I allow you to do that, you could edit/change ANYONE's job wanted ad. It might be that we allow you to delete your ad (so you can create a new one).

Hi Sophie

Very good point.

My view is that the iPad screen is big enough to display the site properly. I'm always viewing on an iPad / iPad mini and not having any problems. That said, there are some usability issues with iPads which will be fixed in the next version:

Main navigation is fiddly.
Forum posting is restricted to basic text, without any formatting or ability to attach images on an iPad.

iPhones and other mobile devices are a different thing altogether.

My view (tell me if you agree or not), is that forums are not really suited to small smartphones - because it is tediously fiddly to compose a reply to a forum post. I'm almost more tempted to enable a feature that allows you to reply to a forum post directly by email.

For that reason, if we were to to make an app or a mobile version, I've got to know what exactly you would find helpful in a mobile version:

Latest jobs
Latest events
Wiki
Forum

(I've kept forum on that list, because maybe you do want to be able to read and reply to posts in the forum on an iphone).

Please think hard (anyone) before answering that question . I mean, I could end up spending a lot of money developing something that everyone thought sounded nice, but in the end nobody actually uses!!

Do you know if there is an app for ipad/iphone or is it just through the internet site? I find it hard to use the site on my iphone but couldn't find an app... can you let me know if there is one?

Hi Sal, Don't worry, all content is being migrated and all old posts will be kept. We're using the same platform for this upgrade, whereas last time it was a completely new system, and the software was incompatible.

but does this mean we end up losing old posts? or is it just improvements to what we already have?There were some really useful posts on the old site that just disappeared with the site
