Fi, depending on what you are looking for, you should try ebay. I saw a fluid pump on it once for £60. Dont know if it was any good or compatible with what you are using though, but its something to keep in mind for the next time.

I know the pump we have been GIVEN is historic! But at the moment its the best one (only one) I've got. And I would prefer to have this than nothing! Unfortunately as a new practice, we can only get equipment when we can afford it and drip pumps are quite expensive. At the moment there seems to be more things in practice that we need to spend money on.

Nick - thank you for the link for Direct Medical I have ordered some giving sets but they wouldn't tell me how much they were - which is slightly worrying!

Sandra - being a true Scot I did try a cheap drip line first, not believing that it required a special set!!

lol no you get brand new buff ones....... well in STRVN world you do.Afterall there was not H and S rules all those years ago.

Health & Safety would have a field day. Thinking of this workforces if the pump is an antique, surely the workforce is too!!! Esp. if its second hard, or do you get a brand new buff one?????

lolololol, it comes with it's own worforce for moving and handling does it not?? it has it's own health and safety rules

Same with the burtons ones, at least you could carry it about and the animal too if need be.You did not need a tow truck to pull it into another room

Yea the ones we had where I used to work were half the size of those above, but still rather monsterous!!!! The Animal Care ones are more compact

lol, yes it did look similar, except a different colour......... beige if I remember correctly.This thing weighed a ton!! not exactly made for attaching to the kennel door

Hi nick, I think I know what you are talking about, I have seen a similar one that requires a notch.

PS, it was a total antique christ if this thing fell on you you would need emergency assistance

We have the animal care infussion pumps at work which can have any line put through them provided they are the soft type and not the thoughened drip lines. The only down side is that the diathermy constantly sets them off. Sandra the pump that Fi has need special giving sets as they is a notch that requires special fitting to attivate the pump to work. will try and add a pic.........

We were told that too lobylou, but I think a lot of it is a ploy to get you to buy their stuff,(which is usually harder to get and more expensive) the thing is if you work it out yourself... the drip rate that is, and when it is due to run out, and it does with another drip line, then basically they are talking b******s. We had a burtons one, and it works fine and runs out at the correct time with other lines.

Sorry cant help tracking them down but with regards to using other giving sets, we were told by burtons that other giving sets can be used with our pump but you cant guarantee that the amounts infused are accurate. Something to do with thickness of the plastic and the mechanism which runs the fluids through.

Fi, have you tried other drip lines??? reason I ask is a few years back we had a infusion pump that supposedly would only work with the giving sets that went with the pump...... what a lot of rubbish, it works well with any bloody giving set.... well except the really cheap thick plastic ones that is.
