Working so closely with all sorts of animals is it somethings that we should be doing on a regular basis?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts :)

Re: Self worming !

We dont tend to get intestnal worms from pets (unless we ate a flea!)

If we ingested roundworm eggs the larva would migrate around our bodies and cause problems depedning where they end up. (most well known is ocular larval migrans in the back of the eye)

The only type of zoonotic tapeworm in the uk is ecchinococus granulosis which is present in sheep farming areas. If we ingested an egg from an e.granulosis tapeworm we would become an intermediate host and the larve could cause fluid filled cysts in our lungs and liver.

I think with good hygiene measures the likelihood of us getting infected is low so treating ourselves with an anthelmintic without symptoms would be a bit overkill.

Re: Self worming !

Yes thanks Ash :)

Re: Self worming !

I completely agree!! We come into close contact with worms on a regular basis, there should be a human wormer on the market for vn's
