Is there anything anyone can suggest that I can give them at this age? The data sheet for panacur says it can be given to the mother

Re: hand reared kittens

Lol there are 4 and I'm not keeping any because I already have 2 cats! The problem is I don't know anything about their origin, only that their mum died so because of this, the vets thought it's likely they have worms. They have been a bit constipated, that was gonna be my next post becuase there seems to be alot of conflicting information about what to do about that.

The prepatent period for T.Cati is 8 weeks so even if mum fed them for a few days after birth kittens do not need treating for ascarids until they are 6 weeks old. However if you are concerned with Hookworm infection worming can start at 2 weeks. I would agree with the post above about swallowing air when suckling. Also are the kittens constipated at all?

Re: hand reared kittens

That's a really good idea, I'll try that. MSD's technical bods should be able to advise you if you can use Panacur and if so what dose and frequency. I can't find any other wormer that you can use in such young kittens. Otherwise you might just have to wait until they're 2 weeks old.

Re: hand reared kittens

Thank you for the reply. They've been checked by a vet and they think the same.
Just a newbie to here.

I've had experience with similar. Though if very hard tummies sometimes it could be wind from the suckling of a bottle or syringe.

I'd recommend a vet to check them out. At least under their instruction they can give you more info.
