What protocols do you have in place for washing isolation laundry, greens, scrubs, bedding etc...
What detergents do you use? This is exactly what I was after and more!

I'll let you know what I conclude. I am writing a CPD lecture for my practice so I will make sure to post the PP and supporting docs on here once it is complete.

The protocols on the Bella Moss website are simply brilliant!!!

Re: Laundry & Infection Control

Hi Louise,

I have just read through the protocols which you have created and they are fab! I was reassured that many of the things mentioned in your protocols were already being done in our practice, however; there is always room for improvement. These will certainly help with clinical audits and will also be a fab training tool for SVN's and other practice team members too.

Many Thanks,

Might be worth getting in touch with Tim Nuttall there or a search on.

Re: Laundry & Infection Control

Hi Steph

I have just created some infection control guidelines along with Pam Mosedale for the Bella Moss Foundation/RCVS Practice Standards Scheme - these are freely available from the Bella Moss Foundation website

Regards

These are the washers we used to have where I used to work. We had two for bedding and a separate one for scrubs.

Re: Laundry & Infection Control

Hi,

We were told at college that washing at 60degrees celcius kills most bacteria, so i make sure the machine is set to 60 for everything

we just use any washing detergent thats on offer and no softner.

we use ace stain remover to get blood out of drapes first.

we treat all bedding and drapes the same ie same machine and method.

not really any "protocols"

I think your research might produce some interesting findings and ill be interested to see if theres anything i can use to improve things in practice.

have fun researching!
