I qualified in Portugal in 2012 and moved to London last year. I finally got my RCVS registration sorted out and now I'm looking for some jobs. My first interview is booked for the 2nd of May, but I really don't know what kind of questions

Re: 1st Interview!

Thanks guys, that helped a lot!

Re: 1st Interview!

Hi.

I've just had a few interviews (starting my new job Tuesday eek!) and i can say not one of the practices that interviewed me actually asked interview style questions. It was mainly an informal chat which was a lot nicer, for one i had a working interview which i particularly liked as i think that way you get a real feel for the practice and vice versa. However, i did prepare thoroughly before my interviews with questions such as what bizzy mentioned above. The other things i prepared for was a question about my strengths/weaknesses in general and some examples of scenario i could give them for certain situations e.g being compassionate, a difficult nursing case, a difficult communication case.

Best of luck

Re: 1st Interview!

I have found that interviews that I have been to have mainly been an informal chat so that they can get to know you and make sure that you will fit in as a member of the team. Some questions I have been asked are:

What are your 2 main skills as a nurse?

What part of nursing do you enjoy the most?

How do you deal with complaints from clients?

What are your reasons for leaving your current/previous job?

What tasks do you perform in your current/previous role?

Describe a time when you have been a team player.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your interview :)
