uve prob tried this, but i had a horse with similar prob, u can by a net type thing that attaches to the noseband and covers the whole of his nose, this worked well for my horse who had the same prob, head tossing and shaking to extent he threw me off, try it if u havnt already, u can get them from most saddlers

The behaviour riding out isn't a learned response because he does enjoy going out, he is quite cross at the moment that he isn't. He is also sneezing alot in the stable/field and its only at this time of year. The plan we have come up with thus far is..... Putting him out at night, in during the day, he is on piriton and mixed pollen tablets and have just hunted down a nose net (this is snot covered now i might add...). So fingers crossed! It probably isn't rapeseed but its definately a pollen allergy. he doesn't react to hay or anything else at any other time of the year.

Rabbits get me too if I touch my face after handling them. Not so much just being around them, unless I'm around their bedding or housing. But if I touch one and don't wash my hands and then touch my face. OH lordy! not fun. :) I've learned to live with it though which is good because we get a lot of rabbits at work! :)

I have no idea and it was years ago that I had it done, but out of Dogs, cats, feathers, dust dust mite storage mite, trees, flowers, grass and I cant remember anything else gras was the only one I weas actually fine with.

I have got used to cats, dogs and featheres, by actually owning them........ I am however allergic to Rabbits...... even though I was not tested for them but hell I need a anti histamine with most, and I am allaergic to staffs and Boxers ( mildly~) and also Rats even though I have had them before.

they did it on your arm! mine was on my back and the top of my arms :( sucked I had tape (which I was also allergic to) all over my back with patches for a whole week. I couldn't shower... I hated it!!! mid summer too!! How many species of grass did they test on you? they only tested two on me and I complained as there are at least 6 in this country!

Hmmm I will read with interest Steph. Incidetally the hospital were not going to let me home after my intradermal as I was allergic to everything but grass..... my whole arm swelled up to twice the size it should have been, I think they thought I was gonna have anayphylactic shock, but I was fine in the end and after few hours I was fine.

there are so many difference species of grass, many people are allergic to it! but maybe not you. dunno. I have also had a lot of testing done. patch testing mostly I had over 150 patches for chemical reactions with 12 responses then had the intradermal and patch for organics even more reactions there. lilies are leathal to me! I'm on Telfast daily 120mg and I have an inhailer.

here are some interesting facts and details about rapeseed. rapeseed allergies are very rare, most 'allergies' to rape seed are psychosomatic because of their odour and seeing the thick yellow pollen. Some people have allergies to the oil, but not the pollen very often.

Hmmm, I know I am allergic to trees and flowers b ut def not grass........... I have had intradermal allergy testing thats how I know, but will look into the rapeseed thing...... off now in fact to check

I only mention it because I said that very thing this afternoon with my partner in the car. He works with farmers and apparently Linola seed is growing at the moment and it's yellow as well... lol Honestly I don't know. But I do however know that the rapeseed pollen is too big to cause major allergic reactions. It's more likely to be grass pollen, flower pollen or tree pollen. Rapeseed pollen allergy is actually VERY rare. :)

As far as I was aware, but correct me if I am wrong, but rapeseed is the yellow flower that is abundant at the mo in the fields??

Rapeseed isn't out at the moment is it?, that's linseed(linola to be exact) I thought... Rapeseed is later in the summer. Have you tried some Stopitch from Wendalls Herbs? Are you certain it's a pollen allergy? What sort of testing have you done? Are you sure this isn't a learned response to riding out? Horses are really cheeky about working out something keeps them from having to do any work or going out.

Aww Jo thtas so sad, I can sympathise with the horse, my allergies are up and running too with the rape seed........ so lovely to look at but it's a bloody pest too
