I understand that this time last year local councils became responsible for strays, whereas they shared the responsibility with the police before.

We don't really see that many stray dogs round here. Currently have 3 stray cats in the hospital though!

Re: Stray dogs

After having a chat with our local dog warden today, I was surprised that he was saying that they were extremely quiet and had been for a long time.He was putting it down to people taking better care of their pets now than in the past.So certainly from my part of the copuntry there does not seem to be much of an issue

Re: Stray dogs

Yeah they never do turn up!!
We recently had a lurcher with a broken leg tied to the drain pipe outside of our surgery, the RSPCA said it was not classed as abandonment as the owner may come back!!!!

Thats ridiculous!

We had two cats (one pregnant) dumped in a skip in a bag near our practice recently and the RSPCA told me they'd come and collect them, I told them I could keep them all week but we were a branch so no staff at weekends so needed them collected by Friday and they said that was fine, so I looked after them all week as they said they could only do end of week.

Guess what, they didnt show! Wouldnt answer any phone calls
