Managed to persude the customer to order uk lienced product from the net (not client, so can't sell combo stuff, no money, usually visits RSPCA etc etc).

Had them on the phone again asking about some drontal they had delivered. Adv they read the packet, but apparently it came with no info on dosing?! Mental!

Can the Frontline plus be sold in the uk without prescription? Seems mad if it's like combo.

I do exactly the same with my animals - buy large dog Frontline (not Combo) and split - done on the advice of a vet! It's all 10% fipronil and preservatives, no different ingredients at all (we checked the data sheets!).

I use one vial of large dog in one go as well.

Are we still talking about frontline? That's what I have split across dogs/cats. I cannot say I have ever used or know alot about frontline combo so cannot comment on that. Never had any problems with the cats on frontline. Its been so long I cannot comment on % either - I can just remember calculating how much fipronil each animal needed as a minimum dose (I worked with minimum to get the most out of the vial). I used to find it so frustrating in practice that I couldn't advise owners to do the same - expecially when I had owners that couldn't afford to comprehensively treat their animals any other way.

I use up the vial in one go. It evaporates very quickly although I guess covered wouldn't be such a problem. I wouldn't be keen to leave and use again in 2 months - never mind 8 due to worryings about whether any of the compounds oxidise (or other wise react) on contact with oxygen (etc).

Doing it for dogs with dog ones makes more sense... I would wonder if it loses some of the active ingredient if it's kept after opening? Presumably not an issue if you use one big pipette on multiple smaller dogs in one go.

But there's a different one for cats, the active ingredient percentages are different... There must be a reason for this- I'd be way too leery of it to use dog pipettes for a cat or vice versa.

I have always done this for my animals. When I had 2 cats (c4kg each), 1 JRT (c6kg), 1 border terrier (c10kg), 1 collie (20kg), 1 lab x (30kg). I used to use two large frontlines and calculate how much to apply to each animal. One vial every couple of months. Huge saver! I also used to do similar for the dogs with program tablets by splitting them.

I am suprised more people don't do it to be honest!

I don't know that it's actually harmful but the dosage is slightly different of the ingredients... There's more of something in the cat one than there is in the dog one... Personally I wouldn't take the risk.

There's also a buyers guide on ebay about how to tell if you're buying fake frontline... It;s a big industry apparently.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I had a call from a client today about Frontline Plus for dogs. She was asking about using it on cats?! Apparently it comes with a doser so you can save the left over for future months? I must confess, I freaked out (never heard of frontline plus) and adv she get proper UK approved frontline from Pets at home or from online uk based pharmacy (on benefits, can't afford us but always calls for advice. Not seen the cats ever, and the dog in over 1yr)

Apparently there is a Pet market stall that sells it, and they can use dog on the cats. It works weight wise in pounds not kg's (which made me tell her it's not a uk product) but reading online it appears to contain fipronil. Did anyone figure out if places can really sell it?

it's nothing new. many sites do it and there is no gauruntee with the products they sell. I bought some Advocate from the site listed above and i swear it wasn't real. My Ocicat had earmites with in 2 months of using it.

Hi Jenny l would go to the contacts section and click on Director of Authorisations and also the Licencing Admin and see how you get on with them. Send to both head honcho in each section.

(I finally worked out that it is as l thought but never checked up we do not need to put the link in as such just the name and overwrite the link just click on the bold parts in my message )
