I cannot find the right practice for me at the moment, but I shall stay in something

Re: Leaving Vet Nursing

Hi there... There's a cheap cpd website I go on it's called ecpd for vet nurses...there's free ones in there and also some really cheap interesting ones!

Re: Leaving Vet Nursing

Don't worry about the CPD - please see my @vetsonline nursing blog for free CPD options to last at least a year (Jan 2014 blogs)

Sorry to hear this, i really hope things work out for you! :-)

If you want to look for CPD that is free (and quite a few hours worth!!) try www.dechra.co.uk/academy (fluid therapy for small animals is 6 hours of CPD, they also do cushings, ear and skin cytology etc) abbot animal health do free CPD on fluids, diabetes etc. Idexx have free cpd on the learning centre, that should all get you some way to the amount you need!

Why not ring round a few and explain you want to gets some more practice/training after a period out and see what they say. Could you talk to your employers and explain and see if they will let you do some nursing? Or transfer to nursing?

Re: Leaving Vet Nursing

Would it be best for that to go to a training practice?

I am half tempted to try and apply for a job nearby that has just opened up as it would be a small practice but the problem is that I have just started a job 2 months ago (under the same company but not nursing) and I have just done the first step of their training. Handing in my notice then working in the same building might be a bit wierd

Re: Leaving Vet Nursing

:(. I am sure you are a great nurse and would be a great asset to a team or in a new career. It is a shame when nurses leave a job they have worked so hard to achieve. Confidence is hard to rebuild once it is damaged and you need the support of those around you but most of all you need to believe in yourself. I think locuming can be a great way to find the right practice for you and it can help build confidence. If you want to stay nursing could you do some odd days volunteering at local practices to build up your confidence after a few months out? With regards to CPD there are a lot of free cpd courses and webinars which are accessible and will easily help cover the hours you need. There are a couple of good older threads on the forums that list a lot of these.
I hope you can find a job which makes you happy whatever you choose to do x
