Will she be in trouble for not reporting it?

I'd have to say, although I KNOW it is naughty, a LOT of people I've worked with have done it, so you wont be the only one in this situation. I guess it depends on how "strong" you are feeling. If you are willing to stand up on principle and make a case of this then I applaud your diligence. It might be an easier thing to deal with if the vet is NOT a practice partner (they almost always are... ) and so their position within the practice is disposable and you hopefully would find they will move on and you can stay. Also good is if they xraying a friend or, heven forbid, client, where things could sour and be brought to the authorities attention.

If, as I said the situation is more embroiled - practice partner xraying their own kid for example - you may find it trickier to prove and make your life very difficult.

Can I just re-iterate I am NOT condoning this, just advising the OP on some likely scenarios. As we have all said before on this very forum, it can be hard to make the mud stick without really watertight evidence and sometimes it is better to do nothing until a time such evidence can be found....

Good luck x

Re: Xraying people

I think you'll find it's written into your practices local rules. Leave it to the professions ie radiographers. If the person requires an X-ray then they should go through the appropriate channels ie go see their GP or attend A&E. All radiation exposure have to be justified at the end of the day. depending on what is clinically wrong with the person an X-ray may not be clinically indicated. Another form of imaging maybe more appropriate. As a Veterinary Nurse there is no way I would radiograph a person. Although I would radiograph them if they attended my full time job with an appropriate request card from a medical professional and if the examination could be justified under IR(ME)R. just so you know I work in the NHS in radiography.

Re: Xraying people

Noooooooooooo.

Re: Xraying people

so, as a regulated nurse is it my responsibility to report them?
