Sounds good actually, 4 days isn't too bad aha! Do you mind me asking how much it is to do? I would look but i think it's past my bedtime and i know i have a very angry cat to deal with in the morning and should probably get some sleep!

It's a 2 year course and apart from 4 days at the RVC when you start and exams it is all done online. It's about 15 hours a week so quite a big commitment.

Is it a part-time or full time course? Do you do modules online and long distance learning? Trouble is i need to ideally be able to stay in practice and only head off for seminars etc when they're held as can't afford to leave work to do it

They are trying to get it recognised so may happen in the future. I work at a referral centre and have found the modules very useful. In the second year you pick 3 electives from: medicine, surgery, ECC, anaesthesia and radiography/diagnostic imaging.

Well a few of the modules within the MSc would be valuable as i work with a surgeon with a SAS Cert who does a lot of ortho ops and i really enjoyed doing the research project as part of my degree so that interested me.. The money side is the only thing however :( How come the RVC graduate diploma isn't recognised? Do you think it will be? I think i'll look in to both and see what will be more beneficial to me! Thank you

I think it depends on why you want to do further study. From what i can see the masters is quite specific and so unless you are working in a practice where you can really use those skills or if you want to go in to research then it may not be worth it? I'm doing the grad dip as I wanted to improve my knowledge and as it covers a wide range of subjects I can use what I have learnt in practice. Also the masters is £7.5k. Ouch! Also meant to say that the RVC graduate diploma is a higher level qualification than the DipAVN but is not currently recognised by the RCVS.

well in one respect its lower than the degree because with the dipavn you can then top up to the degree, but it all makes a whole lot more sense now then it did before, (esp since my uwe lecturer was a bit rubbish). 1st year is A+P, care, ethics and research. 2nd year I chose med. surg. and diag

I did the Bsc (Hons) with UWE as well! Ahh see i was told you couldn't do the DipAVN with a degree! Definitely something to think about.. What are the modules like with the DipAVN? I'm so torn because with the masters i know which subjects i would choose between if i had to but with the DipAVN i want to do them all

I did the Bsc (hons) with UWE and am now mid way through the DipAVN with UCLAN and apart from the workload im enjoying it

I have a BSc and I am currently doing the RVC graduate diploma. My friend who has a BSc is doing the DipAVN so you can do either with a BSc. They are very different for the degree and you go into greater detail. I have a friend doing the masters. I wouldn't personally do it as it would cost a lot of money!
