The best people to speak to are ACAS, there have been recent cases of doctors on call not being paid and they have taken the trusts to court. It basically works out like this:

If you are 'on call' and you are not limited to the practice, or told to stay at home, eg you can go shopping, visit your mates or go to the gym then you are entitled to be paid actual worked hours, so when you have to go in to medicate a patient or you get called in then those are the hours you should be paid for.

If you are on call and have to be at the practice, but not working e.g watching telly, have to stay on site, or you are expected to stay in a certain place so you can respond and so your movements are limited, then you are entitled to be paid those 'working hours' at your normal hourly rate.

We get an £11 retainer for a week nite an £22 retainer for weekend nites, if we get called in we get our hourly rate from the time we are there to the time we leave, if checking inpatients we get paid on how long we are there for

Hello We are paid a salary then if we get called out an hourly rate. Where did this information come from is there a web page to look at. Thanks
