Really sorry about the mundane subject but I just need some clarification.
I know the VMD require fridge temperatures at 2-8*C, so does this mean my min and max should be within this range? My readings can be much higher and lower than

Re: Min/max fridge temps (Zzzzz!)

Thermometer is officially in water in adjusted fridge.

Thank you for your responses, they have been really useful!

My min/max ranges are not falling within that bracket, we store a few bits and pieces in there but predominately our snap ELISA snaps.

I'm not sure whether the practice would splash out on data-loggers, how much do they tend to be, it's always worth an ask I suppose! Failing that I might get some decent thermometers and try the old water trick.

Failing that...new fridge?

Re: Min/max fridge temps (Zzzzz!)

Yes, you have to keep your drugs stored according to the manufacturers instructions. However i agree with Sandra you could have a varied max min from just opening the door. If the temp is only sl higher or lower for 10mins it shouldn't be a problem. Putting it in water is what I was told too.

Re: Min/max fridge temps (Zzzzz!)

Is you max/min in water as this tends to be more stable else everytime you open your fridge this will effect the reading especially if the thermometer is located near the door and the door is open for a long period....
I agree a data logger is good but again place the probe in some solution for less variability!

Re: Min/max fridge temps (Zzzzz!)

Hi,

This is the temperature range but more importantly should fall within the temperature range for the products which you are storing whihc 2-8*C will pretty much cover them all but look aout for the higer hed of 8 as some have a max temp of 5*C
How are you taking the temperature? Might be worth thinking of a temperature data logger - would help to alert you soner if temp moves out of the renage but will also produce a record for you to keep for your next VMD inspection.
