Been thinking about switching both my cats policies to a different company. Currently with Pet Plan on lifetime policies and it's costing me a small fortune.
Does anyone have experience with companies to avoid or companies they would

Re: Changing pet insurance company

All 3 of my cats are on Petplan lifetime. It costs £27 a month, 1 is 13 the other 2 are 5. I would call Petplan and find out why it's costing so much? I called once about something unrelated and they told me that putting all 3 cats on one policy would save me over £10 a month, plus multi pet discount, plus discount for being a VN. Ended up saving loads. As others have said, other companies draw you in with cheap fees then after a year they double, sometimes triple. Petplan only goes up very gradually. Give them a call and see what they can do.

Re: Changing pet insurance company

Also be careful swapping I saw a program where a pet owner swapped insurance companies. The new insurance company had a 14 day inclusion on illness. The dog was diagnosed with cancerous tumour requiring a mandibularectomy. Owner thought was covered. But insurance company refused to pay.

Re: Changing pet insurance company

I would be very wary of swopping. Any pre existing conditions will not be covered and though lots of other companies appear cheaper they premium load so the minute you make a claim your premium will rocket then your stuck with them as condition would be excluded with anyone else.

What level of cover are you on - they do 3 levels of lifetime so you could maybe downgrade if on a higher one.

There are unfortunately so many bad companies out there at the minute. Companies who used to seem ok seem to be becoming as bad as the rest.
