I have a 5-page essay already!

For Level 2 students I've had the SVN clean an open cat abscess site (that had been lanced already a couple of days previously) and then further questioning if needed. Banadaging can be anything from replacing the dressing on an animal needing IVFT, or a standard foot/ear bandage etc under supervision. We are pretty lucky in that the students will at some point in their training get to nurse patients who have undergone extensive surgery and need regular wound management, so this is something the Level3 student would use as a case. This way they can put quite a lot of skills into practice (hygiene, use of various drainage systems, dressing types etc) as like you say this is something a QVN should be competent with.

I know when I was training some SVNs found these areas difficult to cover as their practices may not allow them to place dressings (even under supervision) and cases where wound tx would be needed were referred. To make the standards more specific may mean these students find it even more difficult to cover the scope really.

Do you know when the review is?
