All I can find are ones which basically cover everything in the Vet nursing exotics as a lot of it is very basic level covering anat and phys, diseases and illness,

Re: more exotics???

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. It is more birds but happy to learn about them all as I work with all of them!

I work full time and am in Wiltshire and I work with the Bristol Zoo already within our practice.

I found a few courses on behaviour of birds which sounds interesting but feel that some of it is included in what I have just done so wouldn't help much in furthering knowledge.

I was looking at courses to keep my mind ticking over!! I originally looked at the SQP qualification but the costs of it for what i will be allowed to do didn't, to me, seem very worth it. Also looked into the Advanced Diploma of VN but again, this was going to cost lots and my best option was to do it over 5 years which is a long time and I worry I will loose my enthusiasm over this time for i but to do it in less time will be too much work alongside my full time employment it will just not work.

Therefore was trying to find a course, ideally exotics, to do alongside full time employment as distance learning.

Re: more exotics???

What part of the country are you in and what species in particular are you interested in? If you are thinking more of reptiles and birds than rabbits and stuff then ZSL London zoo vetcentre offer work experience placements to Vet Nurses as do we (Paignton Zoo in Devon) although obviously can't guarantee what cases will present on any given week.

As we all know, most of the health problems in exotics are caused by poor husbandry, so to see (hopefully) the optimum in exotic husbandry then spending time with zookeepers might be an option?
