Am off on my working holiday to Cyprus on Monday morning and we raised just short of £3500 in the end for our two chosen charities. Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported/sponsored us and will let you know how we

Re: Cyprus update

Well done Dippy!

S-J, I think I can cope with adopting a few feral groups to feed each time I go over. It's amazing that they know Ruth's car and just appear out of the woodwork when she arrives in various wasteland places, backs of hotels etc. How she's never run any of them over, I don't know! The worst bit was sitting in a car which stank of catfood in the sun

Re: Cyprus update

hey Dippy

Didn't go to Frenaros or meet any Jess's but it would depend where they adopted her from anyway as only went out and about to homes with the one charity in Peyia so was mainly villages local to there.
I'm going out there for a hol to visit them in June.
Just got back (delayed flight) and am very tired! Had the most fantastic time, made loads of new friends (and sat in the gardens of a few very nice villas along the way whilst visiting various dogs in foster homes etc!) Did some trapping, did the rounds of various shelters, did our day on donkey ride duty at the annual fundraising dog show in the harbour, visited two veterinary practices (very different standards out there and raised several questions for me to think about as and when we ever do make the move, like lay staff doing things RVN's aren't even allowed to do and potentially jeopardising my RVN status if I was expected to do them too!), cried several times and nearly came home with a suitcase full of furry babies. That's really about it (the brief version anyway - I could waffle for hours!) but it was great to see where our money is going and to meet some of the success stories (like a couple who have 9 rescue dogs from PARC and are about to come back to the UK for 12mths for work, bringing all 9 with them, fully passported, and then take them all back again in 12mths when they return - how's that for dedication?) When you get to "go behind the scenes" with those who know where to look and who get contacted a million times a day by people in need of help, it makes you realise just how enormous the problem is, not least because of the now recently added issue of literally dozens of abandoned animals previously "rescued" by UK ex-pats who have now fallen victim to the exchange rate and decided to cut their losses and come back to the UK. Anyway, have tons of photos and although I never want to come home when I've been there, this time was the worst and I actually feel really down in the dumps today (not to mention flippin freezing and in need of my missed night's sleep!) I had planned to go somewhere different in September as I've been to Cyprus the last 4 times in a row but something tells me that's not gonna happen
