Does anybody know the legal situation regarding accommodation provided at work - if it is not classed as a private tenancy agreement what would it legally be classed as and what rights do you have? If rent comes out of your wages surely you

Re: Work accommodation

if your rent is deducted at source it should show as a deduction on your wage slip, even if you do not have a rent book this 'deduction' can be proof that rent is being paid - if it comes down to having to provide proof. If you have lived in the accommodation for more than one year and you are not on a short tenancy agreement you may have more rights? Please contact your local CAB urgently for further advice - very often you dont get a lot of time to sort these things out and Caro is right this can be a minefield, would also advise you to take your contract of employment with you as well - because what is written in that may affect the advice you are given.

PM me if you think I can help - I have quite a bit of experience with this, but I am aware that there have been changes in the law fairly recently hence suggesting CAB for more up to date info

The other practice had room for 3 nurses to live in, we had to do an extra night duty a week unpaid to pay for it and all the other nurses used the flat but compared with having to pay to live out and pay all bills on a very all wage made it a huge struggle to live out.

The first practice was very much the better of the 2 all round particularly the accommodation.
