And b) does anyone know where you could get something like this?

I live in a busy school area, with 3 schools on my doorstep. Often i have problems with my drive being blocked

Re: VET NURSE ON CALL CAR STICKERS?

Sal's suggestion is the one that worked for me...I was getting regularly blocked in as I have two child-minders opposite me. When I politely asked one gentleman to move he told me that his child was more important than me and I should just wait. 10 minutes later.... grrr! In my case there is a regularly unused space a short 3-5 metres further up the road that is available WITHOUT blocking anyone's drive... insane. I started taking photographs on my phone of number plates and how the cars obstructed my driveway but decided to stop when I was rudely (offensively) challenged by an aggressive woman. Bit scary tbh.

So, I tried speaking ot the childminders and they agreed it was unacceptable and would speak with their clients. Made a short-term difference but when the weather got bad it started again. I spoke to a local Special Constable and he helped me acquire a cone. I think he did also speak to the child-minders themselves (rather than the offenders). If it affects their business it works wonders for compliance (they have to get a licence to trade I believe from the council so any complaints can affect that).... he he he. Perhaps speak to the school as well? Also, if no improvement, your local council, (get some double yellow lines painted), your local MP, your local paper too. The more the merrier I should say. Inconsiderate people need to be respectfully shown their manners. Bit harsh perhaps but we all need to show fairness to each other yes?!

I also had a problem with a chap opposite who's wife found it difficult to park in their driveway so he decided to tell her to use the (one) space outside MY house and she kept getting the tip of her boot or bonnet accross my drive. Couldn't get out without major manoevres due to close parking either side of my driveway. A very polite cup of tea and a biscuit later the problem was sorted (I helped him take down a wooden post in his driveway that was causing the problem). This time, it was being a pro-active good neighbour that worked.

All in all - as maddening as it is - we're the ones who have to do the spade-work to sort out a problem caused by other people. Good luck and keep cool!

ps. a link to a website where you can buy your own cone.... not too expensive and probably worth it to stop the hair tearing...

They get a ticket and learn not to park there again.

Having signs to say not to park there is also recommended

Re: VET NURSE ON CALL CAR STICKERS?

ask for or 'acquire' some no parking yellow cones

Re: VET NURSE ON CALL CAR STICKERS?

am I being stupid but if there is no on street parking then why are there cars parking on the road and blocking your driveway??? def get the police involved especially if there are signs saying no on street parking

Re: VET NURSE ON CALL CAR STICKERS?

Hi

It's actually a criminal offence to block a drive way if it involves preventing access to a public highway. If it's school parking it's probably regulars, may be worth involving the police if it's a persistent problem.
