I am currently in my second year of veterinary nursing, and I am struggling to get my head around the principles of radiography. Is there any radiography books that you would recommend to help with this?
Many thanks!

Re: Study help for radiography?

I half a human radiographer ;-) Celtic SMR do a good radiography course http://www.celticsmr.co.uk/cpd.aspx the AAVR do two courses available one is on radiation protection training and the other aims to teach techs/VNs how to perform MRI scans http://www.aavr.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=34&Itemid=51

Re: Study help for radiography?

Hi there - do you know of any good radiography courses for qualified vn as I had a v keen interest before moving into opthalmology and feel it is something i would like to know more on.

That book looks quite helpful. I do enjoy radiography, but for some reason it is the only bit that does not sink in. My other half has agreed to be a 'student' for me to try and teach also.

Nick, I may be back asking for help in a week or so if I am still struggling. Thank you!

Re: Study help for radiography?

Radiography is fun!!
I had a really rubbish lecturer in college for radiography so I bought the 'veterinary Radiography : a workbook for students

its basically tries to make learning radiography fun...if that is even possible? lol

You can buy it on amazon or from waterstones

hope this helps!

Re: Study help for radiography?

Rewcastle...

I struggled with this too and one day it just clicked! I have an old book if you want it but to be honest college notes we had were pretty good, I just went through mine and wrote down exactly what we needed to know... no extra bumph! Read through them a few times and they made sense! Also, with the actual x ray head, every time you use the machine at work try and talk through how it's working with someone. Helps!

I found repetion helped but also I had one of our older vets explain it to me, he had obviously had it drilled into him at vet school 40 odd years ago and it really helped me.

Good luck :)
