My friend has set up a dog rescue this year for Romanian street dogs.

Try this... https://m.facebook.com/events/157632634437007?__user=511198828 I went on a mini backpacking holiday to Romania a couple of years ago , and there are beautiful stray dogs a plenty! I never liked Bucharest (although the nurse related to the above link will probably dispute that!). If you're looking for good places to visit too I would recommend to try and find somewhere in Transylvania.
