Deep clean is really to clean with attention to detail. It is important to incorporate into your SOP the use of a product that will remove biofilm (monthly or when terminal disinfection or deep cleaning is necessary) as normal washing and mopping will not take care of this. You can also consider fogging the area with a safe disinfectant after cleaning to ensure all the nooks and crannies are effectively dealt with. Not sure which product is being referred to as Trigene? So I'm afraid emptying drawers and cupboards awaits you! Good luck

Re: SOP for Theatre Cleaning

We used have protocol for daily, weekly, monthly clean.

Daily: damp dust all surfaces prior to first patient. In between patients all surfaces cleaned inc monitoring equipment, lights etc. floor splashes cleaned as required. End of the day wipe all surfaces and Hoover and mop floors. Moving tables and trolley etc.. Use theatre strength Trigene

Weekly: as above but empty pass through and clean as well as clean walls. Using surgical strength Trigene.

Monthly: as weekly wash but use different disinfectant such as Virkon, is using Virkon surfaces must be rinsed afters use.

PPE should be used. Swabs should be taken on a three/six monthly basis to check for adequate cleaning. Also if infected cases have entered theatre ie MRSA then a deep clean should be performed.

Also maybe worth drawing up an SOP for theatre wear.

Re: SOP for Theatre Cleaning

... Yeah... that's how i interpret it. For our SOP we have each week whole room floor to ceiling to be cleaned cupboards empties (luckily only one for us) and everything to be cleaned, we also check all autoclaved instruments for good measure (and were a anal bunch of clean geeks)
