I am currently working as a locum and a couple of practices have asked if I have my own x-ray badge, whereas some practices have a 'locum' badge.
I just wondered what other locums

Re: Locums x-raying

Hi Liv, I locum and I pay for my own dose meter i use this company they are very good.

No this is not acceptable. You should all have your own personal dose meter. You do need to monitor environmental doses to. This ensures that building protection is adequate. I would speak o the practice RPS or RPA

Re: Locums x-raying

where I work now the clinic just have a badge inside and outside the xray room. does anyone know if this is acceptable? especially as a lot of the nurses/vets are holding animals for xrays wearing gowns/gloves/collar

Re: Locums x-raying

[quote user="Caro Laithwaite VN,"]
Dont have a badge used to many years ago the where was it done occured to me as well.

Even if one around l dont bother with them. I spoke to the radiation lady who was sorting an x ray at a practice l was at. I totally disagree. It's a piece of PPE and in fact it is requirement of anywhere using ionising radiation as a diagnostic tool. Therefore it is a requirement of any personnel using the equipment should be wearing a dose badge. Our locums have their own dose badges

Re: Locums x-raying

speak to the guys at JAK re dose metre - its a while since I spoke to them re our locum vets in practice x-raying and badges they said that it is wise for them to have their own and its a bit like a dongle so you can log it in a computer so it knows where you were. Can't remember everything they said but they will talk you through it.

Re: Locums x-raying

Dont have a badge used to many years ago the where was it done occured to me as well.
