Just wanting to find out what everyone is using for surgical drapes as we are looking to changing. I would appreciate both positive and negative opinions on what you currently use and if you find them cost effective.

The boss is not keen on the NVS drape roll as we have tried this in the past. Will ring around companies for samples.

Re: Drapes

NVS do Vetpal drape roll (10metres I think) - we then cut them to the size we want (small/med/large) we also use the same stuff to wrap kits with.

Re: Drapes

Ims euro do individually wrapped sterile drapes.
I did a rough estimation of costs for washing, drying, packing and sterilising drapes and it works out roughly half the price to use disposable so no contest really! Millpledge make 2 types of pre packed ones and recently sent me some free samples to try.

Re: Drapes

We used to use disposable.

We used to have them from dms veterinary. We had smaller ones for four quartering. And then larger ones to go over the the four quartered drapes. Plus ioban iodine impregnated skin coverage for increased sterility. although costly save time of VNs having to sterilise and wash etc.....

Have also worked in practices where they buy on a roll and cut up and sterilise and use as required by vet. can be time consuming cutting up and sterilising. Also risk of strike through during the sterilisation process

Have also used cloth drapes in the past. Not keen on these. Strike through not only during surgery but also during the sterilisation process.
